“THE SEAWEED GARDEN”
AT THE CHANLER HOTEL
Seaweed Garden is a custom handcrafted architectural relief that draws inspiration from the organic flow of seaweed. Through layered texture and expressive mark-making, the piece introduces movement, depth, and a refined coastal identity, enhancing the atmosphere of The Chanler Hotel with a subtle yet immersive design statement.
The installation is composed of 23 panels in multiple sizes. Each panel was carefully handcrafted at my studio in Long Island City, New York, over the course of 10 days—including 7 days of fabrication and 3 additional days dedicated to refining and detailing the surfaces. The completed pieces were then transported to Newport, Rhode Island, where I spent 5 days on-site executing the final installation at The Chanler Hotel on Cliff Walk.
The result is a cohesive, site-integrated artwork that merges craftsmanship, materiality, and spatial storytelling into one unified experience.
